この写真はフォトグラファーの若生さんと一緒に９１年の９月より一年かけて撮影したものです。
以前から私はこの様な花の写真の作品がフォトグラファーのみの視点から捕えられている事にフラストレーションを感じフォトグラファーとコーディネーターとのジョイントによる作品づくりができないか、又その方がより良い作品になるのではないかと考えていました。
幸い今回、若生さんという良きパートナーを得てかなり納得のいく作品が残せたと思っています。
撮影に際しては、あらかじめ撮影日を決めるのではなく、良い花が見つかった日が撮影日、というスタンスで進めました。「初めに花ありき」なのです。
この事も大きく作品に反映していると思います。
私が花屋もしくは花市場で気に入った花を入手し、若生さんと共に細かくアングル、フレーミングを
決めお互いが納得いく所で始めてシャッターを切る、という作業を繰り返しました。
この繰り返しの中で私と若生さんのお互いの感性に非常に共通の部分があった事も一年も続いた理由になるとおもいます。
この作品はこのように造られましたが、そのなかに二人だけの感性ではなく日本人としての感性の様なものをうけとっていただければと思います。
There photographs were taken by photographer,Mr.Wako,over a period of one year,starting in September 1991.
I was concerned that flower photographs would merely refloct the point of view of the photographer.
I pondered the possibility of taking these photos in collaboration with a photographer and a coordinator hoping that this would produce better results through our combined effoets.
Fortunately though,the partnership with Mr.Wako enabled me to produce eork which I feel is quite satisfactory.
The photos were taken on an unscheduled basis,day by day,depending on when I could find beautiful flowers.
I believe that this spontaneity is reflected in the final works.
To create the pictures I firstly obtained flowers at a florist or flower maket.
I then determined the angle and framing of each photo with Mr.Wako.
Then togerther we released the shutter only after we were both satisfied with the final composition.
We repeated this process for every photo.
The fact that Mr.Wako and I shared the same ideals in this repetitive process explains why we were able to collabrate on this project for a year.
I hope that the feeling these photos evoke is a sense of Japanese character rather than two people working togerther in partnership.
